Simply Divine | SAG Dresses 2013

Well hello again!

Last night at the Screen Actors Guild Awards there were some killer dresses (the not-so-killer dresses were inexplicably left off). Below are some of the trends:

Pinks and Purples are the best dress colors in my (completely biased) opinion. This category is full of dresses that have a great energizing hue.

Black & White. Nothing says “Hollywood” like a great LBD (or LWD). Apparently, everyone got the memo that Black & White were the colors of honor at the SAG Awards.

Navy. Beautiful dark blues made an appearance at this award show. Being more formal than previous shows, a lot of starlets went for a sophisticated blue.

Pastels. It’s almost spring (sure doesn’t feel like it!) so I’m glad to see these fresh pastel colors on the red carpet.

Emerald. There’s the green I’ve been looking for! After Pantone named it Color of the Year, greens will be on my list all season!

Men’s Fashion. There is more to men’s fashion than a black tux. I’m glad these stars took a risk and jazzed up their attire!

Gorgeous Dresses from the Golden Globes: 2013

I love, love, LOVE award season and not just to celebrate the theatrical accomplishments of Hollywood that I’ve seen (and most that I haven’t), but also because this time of year is oozing with beautiful fashion and new designs. Last night at the Golden Globes, I saw a definite similarity with some of the dresses. Here are four of the color trends we will definitely see again this year!

Emerald. I expected to see a little more Emerald since it’s the color of the year, but I love the dresses that were there!

Blue. There was a wide range of blues. My favs were Rosario Dawson and Morena Baccarin’s.
Red, and variations thereof. It use to be cliche to wear red on the red carpet. Not anymore! These gals embraced vibrant dresses for the affair.

Nude. What’s the recipe for a knock-out dress for an award show? Nude color + sheer + a healthy dollop of sparkle.

Emerald Isle

THE color to be in 2013 is…. Emerald! Why? According to Pantone,

“Emerald, a vivid verdant green, enhances our sense of well-being further by inspiring insight as well as promoting balance and harmony… [It is] the color of growth, renewal and prosperity, no other color conveys regeneration more than green. For centuries, many countries have chosen green to represent healing and unity.”
