The Color of 2011

Turquoise was the color of 2010, but it’s time to leave that behind. With all the colors I told you about for 2011 in my last article, Pantone has chosen which color will be THE color of 2011- Honeysuckle!

According to Pantone,

“In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues… Honeysuckle emboldens us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor. It elevates our psyche beyond escape, instilling the confidence, courage, and spirit to meet the exhaustive challenges that have become part of everyday life.”

It’s the same idea with music, actually. In times of stress, record labels don’t release ballads or crooning love songs and choose instead the up tempo, catchy songs. That is of course why we have so many good dance songs lately. But, I digress. Think of Honeysickle as your favorite dance tune and splash it on! Wear it, paint it, embrace it. With this honor given to the beautiful color, I decided to give a little extra design inspiration.

* Add accessories with Honeysuckle to update your look. *

{1} Roxy Pendant, $195 {2} Francine Sofa $1,5000 {3} Antique Brooch Curtain Tie Back $14 {4} Sunset Hand-Tufted Wool Rug 8×10, $1,699 {5} Pier Side Table, $99 {6} Pearls Framed Art, $698 {7} Punch Bloom Pillow, $88 {8} Alabaster Wine Glass, $20 {9} Louis Poulsen Collage Pendant Lamp, $1,455

* Or, try redecorating your room with Honeysuckle! *

Remembrance Everyday

I wanted to take a moment to recognize Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, today, his holiday. Everyone has different ways to celebrate. You could be attending one of the festivities going on in Atlanta, visiting the King Center Museum, or relaxing at home. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has been an inspiration all over the world. Here is how he still inspires artists today.

Whatever your life’s work is, do it well. A man should do his job so well that the living, the dead, and the unborn could do it no better.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
